About the Role
Purpose
DM Interim Management (PTY) LTD is currently hiring a Skilled Rig Mechanic for our client operating
in the oil and gas sector in Namibia. This role is ideal for experienced professionals with hands-on
expertise in maintaining and troubleshooting motors, air compressors, generators, and valves on
onshore drilling rigs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Motors: Operate and maintain various types of motors (AC and DC). Troubleshoot electrical
issues, perform routine inspections, and manage motor controls, including Variable Frequency
Drives (VFDs), and safety protocols. Experience with various sizes and types of drilling
machinery powered by motors. - Air Compressors: Operate and maintain rotary screw and reciprocating air compressors.
Understand of pneumatic systems and their applications in drilling operations. Conduct routine
maintenance, including inspections, oil changes, and filter replacements. Troubleshoot air
supply issues and system failures effectively. - Generators: Operation and maintenance of diesel and gas generators, ensuring optimal
performance. Knowledge of electrical distribution and load management on the rig. Perform
routine testing and inspections, as well as emergency response to generator failures.
Understanding of generator synchronization and power management systems. - Valves: Installation, operation, and maintenance of different types of valves (gate, globe, ball,
and check valves). Knowledge of valve specifications, materials, and pressure ratings relevant
to drilling operations. Skills in analyzing valve performance, and conducting required repairs or
replacements. Experience with valve automation, instrumentation, and control systems. - Maintenance & Repair: Oversee the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of all
mechanical systems and equipment on the rig. - Regular Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of machinery to ensure compliance with
safety and operational standards. - Documentation: Document maintenance activities, prepare reports, and maintain accurate
records of repairs and equipment status. - Project Support: Participate in rig mobilization and demobilization processes, providing
mechanical support during transitions. Participate in project planning and execution, providing
input on mechanical operations to support overall project objectives. - Emergency Response: Assist in emergency response planning and execution as it pertains
to mechanical systems.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
- 3+ years proven experience in business support or administrative roles.
- Strong knowledge of financial and accounting procedures is an advantage.
- Advanced MS Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong ethics and ability to handle confidential data.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Experience in project management or business development support is desirable.
