About the Role
Purpose
DM Interim Management (PTY) LTD is seeking a skilled and experienced Rig Electrician to join our client’s oil and gas operations in Namibia. This role is critical for ensuring the safe installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems on the rig. The successful candidate will work closely with the maintenance and operations teams to maintain high operational standards and ensure electrical equipment functions efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, commission, and test electrical equipment and systems on the oil rig.
- Conduct preventative, routine, and non-routine maintenance of electrical machinery.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, inspections, and inventory of tools and parts.
- Adhere to all safety protocols before and during inspections and maintenance.
- Collaborate with mechanical, safety, and operations teams to ensure safe, integrated rig functioning.
- Participate in emergency response actions related to electrical systems.
- Assist in preparing reports and documentation related to electrical maintenance activities.
- Perform any other tasks as assigned.
Requirements:
- High School Certificate.
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering), along with relevant electrical certifications and safety training.
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as an electrician in the oil and gas or related heavy industry sector.
- Strong knowledge of rig electrical systems including motors, generators, compressors, and control systems.
- Proficient in troubleshooting electrical faults and repairing equipment safely.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, schematics, and manuals.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
